"Forever Young"

Red & White Gladiolas

"From Roots to Dreams"
By Thomas McCollum
Dedicated to the
Class of 2010

You planted us, like tiny acorns,

Into our place.

We grew in soil so rich, so verdant,

That we thrived, sprouting our thoughts

Like leaves.

Our dreams took root, and you

Watered them, making us stronger,

More confident.

Our strife gave us strength;

We grew skin like bark

As we branched out,

Harvesting our wants and

Shedding the rest.

Now here we are, thirteen years later,

Neither flimsy nor mighty, but ready to grow remarkably.

Though we will be transplanted to a new place,

Our roots must take hold and grow strong;

We cannot become dead and dry.

Thank you, Oak Hill, for now we know:

From tiny acorns, great oaks grow.
